The truth about marketing that no one’s telling you

It's really challenging to find the kinds of advisors to follow who you know are giving you the real deal of what’s really working in marketing.

The kind of marketers who share their ideas for building your audience as well as the challenges with each tactic. Most of them are trying to sell us their method. It’s hardly objective!

There's a huge breakdown between the marketing that sells the stuff that we see everywhere and the marketing that actually works so that no one is telling us about.

That's what I want to do more often. Address some of the untruths out there and bring a more balanced perspective so you and everyone else has a better chance to get results.

I've been researching and observing and interviewing people all year long and to find out what's really working in marketing, and I've come up with these five principles that I think will help you grow a healthy, rewarding business for the long-term.

I call them marketing truths. When it comes right down to it, these are the things that need to be in place for long-term growth to happen in your business through marketing efforts.

Here are the main principles I wish I’d known earlier:

1. Start with content
Good content is what you’re all about and learning what to say online comes from your work, your beliefs and your unique experience. Showing up online begins with being committed to your content.

2. Consistency drives growth
To grow our business we have to show up. We don’t need to be everywhere but we need to show up like a pro just somewhere to get noticed by the right people.

3. Make connection the goal
It doesn’t matter which channel you’re using, your goal is to move people from brand awareness, to engagement to sales. Each of those areas needs to have activity in it order to get clients.

4. Show up with confidence in your brand
Knowing the true value of our brand is critical for all entrepreneurs. When we know this, we show up way more confident online, which takes:

  • Believing in ourselves and our value
  • Understanding it so well people flock to us
  • Having a strong sense of what our tribe wants to hear
  • Confidence is the force behind marketing

5. Make a 100% commitment to just one thing
All of this requires that singular element of commitment. Making 100% commitment to just one thing, and I talked about this earlier, you don't have to be everywhere, but you do have to be somewhere where you feel like you can share your awesome content, show up like a pro and have an awesome brand to back it up.

Hey there. I know what it's like to try and fail over and over again. I've been through all the mindset ups and downs, feeling like a failure and wondering why it's so hard to attract amazing clients consistently.
